Andrew Duff welcomes the demise of Libertas
Welcoming the news that Declan Ganley has withdrawn from politics, Andrew Duff MEP and president of UEF says:
"Mr Ganley has been defeated in the Irish elections and across Europe. Libertas has only one MEP, M. Philippe de Villiers from France, who would probably have been elected in any case even if he had not joined forces with Mr Ganley. "Mr Ganley's vainglorious attempt to de-rail the Treaty of Lisbon has failed comprehensively. Voters have pricked his pretension. To claim to be a good 'pro-European' while being fiercely anti-Lisbon was always a monstrous conceit.  "The Treaty of Lisbon is not perfect but it will serve the interest of Europe's states and citizens very well as we battle together to face up to the challenges of economic recession, climate change and international insecurity.&qu
