Europe driven into a corner: call for the urgent establishment of the United States of Europe
Europe, despite the advances of the Lisbon Treaty, remains frozen in complex patterns and hybrid decision-making that no longer allow it to effectively deal with unprecedented challenges it now faces both internally and globally.
To stay competitive in the multipolar world, the European Union has to streamline, to focus on the essential, and to acquire an efficient economic governance, and financial and budgetary requirements. Only through this, the EU can solve its financial and social problems, modernize and revitalize its economy, and consequently, have a major position in the new economic world order in the making.
UEF Belgium proposes the creation of a federal core (that will be the Eurozone) that will have more economic power, including: its own resources equal to at least 5% of GDP in the strategic areas, and its own borrowing capacity intended to finance strategic investments.
