The initiative was brought forward by a coalition of German NGOs and individual politicians in order to support the European Parliament in its quest to strengthen democratic governance in a globalized world through a UN Parliamentary Assembly.

UEF Germany supports campaign to establish United Nations Parliamentary Assembly
The executive board of the UEF's German section - Europa Union Deutschland’s - signed an open letter urging the German government to support the establishment of a UN Parliamentary Assembly during international negotiations.
