UEF Germany supports the Berlin Declaration of the German Civil Society
The organised civil society in Germany committed itself to the European integration: “Luckily, we are united in the European Union”, as stated in the “Berlin Declaration of the Civil Society”, released on 27 June. The Berlin Declaration was adopted by the delegates of over 200 member organisations of the European Movement Germany – Netzwerk Europäische Bewegung Deutschland – including Europa-Union Deutschland, the German section of UEF.

An extract from the Declaration: “The European Union is the most successful joint project of the European nations and states in history. With the European integration we have achieved a great deal: permanent peace, a wide prosperity, democratic and social community as well as historically unique freedom of movement. [...] The climactic conflicts in the European Union which become manifest in justifiable concern and criticism, but also in impertinent recriminations, debates over net contributors and nationalism, endanger not only Europe’s but particularly Germany’s future. As representative advocacy groups of the civil society we bear our share of responsibility for the European integration [...] and call on all stakeholders of European policy to resort to and publicly support the measures necessary for overcoming the crisis.”
