UEF Federal Committee Meeting in Brussels, 12-13 December 2014
The last meeting of the UEF Federal Committee took place in Brussels on 12-13 December 2014. UEF President Elmar Brok MEP introduced the Federal Committee by presenting the challenges of the new European Commission and the characteristics which makes it unique. UEF's guest speaker Mr Margaritis Schinas, European Commission's Chief Spokesperson, presented the roadmap of the European executive of this term by putting foward the priorities of simplification, politicisation and growth through strategic public investment.
The Membership Strategy 2015 was outlined by UEF Secretary-General Paolo Vacca and was adopted by the Federal Committee. Furthermore, two new UEF sections, UEF Hungary and UEF Slovakia, have been unanimously granted full membership and have officially joined the UEF family.
On the second day, discussions in the Political Commissions were followed by the adoption of the Resolution on Ukraine and three Statements: Statement on Anti-Europeanism in Italy, Statement Supporting Draghi's Stance for a Political Union of the Euro and Statement on Ukraine. An updated version of the UEF Manifesto has also been unanimously approved by this Federal Committee.
