The PC5 Chair, Eva Lichtenberger, and the two Rapporteurs, Birgit Wille and Ophélie Omnes, have discussed with Monica Frassoni, President of the European Alliance to Save Energy (EU-ASE), Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, Director of the Jacques Delors Energy Centre, about the relation between the Member States and the EU policies when it comes to climate, whether they are really complementary and how the strategies presented in the recovery plans may oppose the survival of some national subsidies on climate-harmful energy.
They have also discussed structural issues linked to how the recovery plans of the Member Statesmay harm the target decided at the climate conference in Paris, the further negotiations made around the Glasgow climate pact, and how climate- damaging subsidies at national level can counter act an efficient climate policy in Europe.
